Cybersecurity Pilot Program
Overview
Indiana Senate Bill 459 requires Indiana water and wastewater utilities to complete a cybersecurity vulnerability assessment by the end of 2026. AIRW understands that cybersecurity can be highly technical, and many parts of the assessment may fall outside the day-to-day expertise of utility staff.
To help bridge that gap, the Alliance of Indiana Rural Water is partnering with Boyer Technologies and AlphaGuardian to offer a free cybersecurity pilot program for one Indiana utility. This pilot will provide direct support to the selected utility while also helping AIRW evaluate how similar assistance could support utilities across Indiana in the future.
What’s Included
The selected utility will receive a no-cost package of services and support designed to strengthen cybersecurity awareness, improve protection of critical assets, and help staff better understand potential risks and response strategies.
The selected utility will receive:
- A free vulnerability and network assessment from Boyer Technologies
- Free installation of AlphaGuardian’s CyberGuardian system
- Protection for one critical asset site for up to 6 months
- Threat discovery, firewall protection, and remote asset control
- Technical assistance from the Alliance of Indiana Rural Water
- A $3,000 contribution to the utility for participating
Why Participate
This pilot is an opportunity for one Indiana utility to receive expert cybersecurity support at no cost while strengthening its preparedness and understanding of cybersecurity requirements.
It will also help AIRW learn more about the kinds of resources, tools, and technical assistance that may be most valuable to utilities across the state as they work to meet SB 459 requirements and improve their overall cybersecurity posture.
