Course Description

This session explores three emerging contaminants identified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the Emerging Contaminants and Federal Facility Contaminants of Concern List. Participants will learn when each contaminant was discovered, where it is found, its uses, potential impacts on human health and the environment, and the treatment and disposal methods used to manage these contaminants.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify three EPA-listed emerging contaminants of concern.
  • Describe the sources, uses, and environmental occurrence of each contaminant.
  • Explain the potential effects of these contaminants on human health and the environment.
  • Summarize current treatment and disposal options for emerging contaminants.
