Course Description
This dual session provides Wastewater Stabilization Pond Operators with a foundational understanding of pond treatment processes along with essential pump operation and repair skills. The course covers basic pond treatment principles, operational requirements, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting methods to restore proper system performance.
Participants will also learn to identify and resolve common mechanical and electrical issues in centrifugal and positive displacement pumps, including cavitation, seal failures, misalignment, vibration concerns, and pressure fluctuations.
Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:
- Describe basic wastewater stabilization pond treatment processes
- Identify common operational and performance issues in pond systems
- Recognize mechanical and electrical problems in pump systems
- Explain common pump issues such as cavitation, seal failures, and misalignment
- Perform basic troubleshooting and repair on peristaltic pumps
