Course Description:
This session reviews the primary laboratory tests performed at a wastewater treatment plant and the procedures that support accurate and compliant results. Topics include sampling, storage, and preservation requirements, analytical methods for pH, nutrients, and solids, CBOD seeding strategy, lab safety, documentation standards, troubleshooting, and essential laboratory calculations. Participants will also gain a working understanding of Indiana DMRQA expectations, reporting practices, and common sources of laboratory error.
Learning Outcomes:
Attendees will be able to:
- Perform core wastewater lab tests (pH, nutrients, solids, CBOD)
- Apply proper sampling and preservation techniques
- Complete CBOD seeding and testing for samples of unknown strength
- Conduct key lab math and calculations
- Identify and troubleshoot errors, documenting corrective actions
- Follow lab safety and proper reporting practices
