Wastewater Municipal Exam Certification Course

The Wastewater Municipal Exam Certification Course is a comprehensive six-day training program designed to prepare operators for the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) Municipal Wastewater Operator Certification Exam. Available in both online and in-person formats, this course provides an in-depth review of the operational, regulatory, mathematical, laboratory, maintenance, and treatment topics commonly found on the state certification exam.

Recognized as one of Indiana's most successful exam preparation programs, this course combines practical industry knowledge with focused exam review to help participants build confidence and improve their chances of success. Whether preparing to sit for the certification exam for the first time or seeking a refresher on wastewater operations and treatment principles, attendees will gain valuable knowledge that can be immediately applied in the workplace while strengthening their understanding of municipal wastewater treatment processes.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Review and apply key concepts associated with municipal wastewater collection, treatment, and disposal processes.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Indiana wastewater regulations, permit requirements, and operator responsibilities.
  • Perform common wastewater calculations used in treatment plant operation and certification examinations.
  • Identify treatment process components, operational objectives, and troubleshooting strategies for municipal wastewater facilities.
  • Interpret laboratory testing results and apply process control principles to optimize plant performance.
  • Recognize common exam topics, terminology, and question formats found on the IDEM certification exam.
  • Strengthen knowledge of safety practices, equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Increase confidence and preparedness for successful completion of the Indiana Municipal Wastewater Operator Certification Exam.
