2025 Best Tasting Water in Indiana Named!

Alliance of Indiana Rural Water Honors Hammond Water Works as the Best-Tasting Water in Indiana

The Alliance of Indiana Rural Water (AIRW) is proud to announce that Hammond Water Works has been named the winner of the 2025 “Best Tasting Water in Indiana” competition.

The annual statewide contest took place during lunch on the first day of the Alliance of Indiana Rural Water Annual Fall Conference, held at the Grand Wayne Convention Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Throughout the year, the Alliance— in partnership with Wessler Engineering— hosted four regional “Taste Test” competitions around the state to determine which utilities would advance to the finals.

Participating water samples were evaluated based on clarity, odor, and taste, key elements that collectively determine overall drinking water quality. The competition is part of the Quality on Tap!® Campaign, which emphasizes the high quality, standards, and taste of Indiana’s rural and municipal drinking water.

As the state winner, Hammond Water Works will represent Indiana in “The Great American Water Taste Test,” a national competition held on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., in February 2026. The national event is part of the Rural Water Rally, an annual legislative gathering of the 50 state affiliates of the National Rural Water Association (NRWA).
