2018 Spring Conference Recap

French Lick Resort - French Lick, Ind.

Wednesday, April 11, 2018

Thanks to you, we surpassed last year's record with almost 790 people in attendance! Thank you to everyone who participated in the conference at the beautiful French Lick Resort. This year we took advantage of the newly added clay shooting range a the resort on Tuesday afternoon. Then, later in the evening, we welcomed everyone on with dinner and drinks; it was a great time to mingle and get the "lay of the land."

Wednesday morning we hit the ground running and participants started off to their special track of classes - administrative, water or wastewater. That afternoon our Awards Luncheon began with a special message from National Rural Water Association's Senior Vice President, Kent Watson, just before we honored the best of the best in the industry and awarded SIX outstanding students with $1,500 scholarships!  Wednesday evening included our exhibitor reception complete with a food, drinks, and prizes. We also held round two of our Regional Taste Test Competitions. Greencastle Department of Water Works will advance to the Best Tasting Water in Indiana contest to be held in Fort Wayne at the Fall Conference. As if that wasn't enough, we ended the evening with pizza, bowling, and drinks! It was a great time to wind down from a full day of classes while mingling with peers and friends.

Thursday, everyone woke up to a delicious hot breakfast buffet before starting in on another day of classes. We wrapped up the conference by announcing the big Sportsman's Raffle grand prize winner. Over $5,500 in tickets were sold for the Sportsman's Raffle, the proceeds of which were donated to WaterPac! This year's winner was Debbie Keith from BBP Water, who walked away with a Weber Grill worth over $2,500! Kelly Clemons from the City of Knox claimed the shotgun raffle, and Mike Perry from the Town of Charlestown won the all-inclusive trip for two to the NRWA conference in Fort Worth, Texas - sponsored by Covalen & Midwestern Engineers, Inc. Thank you to all our attendees, speakers, vendors, and sponsors for helping make this another fantastic event!
