At the heart of every business is the customer and water and wastewater utilities are no different. Our customers use the water; they pay the water and wastewater bills; and, they vote for our governing bodies. Without them, we wouldn’t be in business. Good customer service skills are imperative to your relationship with these customers, the general public and your Board or Council.
This course has been developed for those who communicate with the customer on a daily basis and those that manage customer service operations in mind. From front desk staff to meter readers to management, every utility professional that speaks to a customer can benefit from this interactive and practical training program.
Topics covered will include the importance of customer service at every level, the basics of human interactions, communication skills required for good customer service including those with the difficult customer, emerging issues in customer service, technology that can be employed to assist with improved customer service, and basic utility system operations that every staff member should know.
